CFE Home Page Change For Entry Process

Saturday night I changed the CFS Home Page to try to make it easier for people to enter the site.

Essentially, what I did was to remove the annoying check-box that people had to check off to agree that they were at least age 18 or older and agreed to the usage terms of the site. Now, similar to most other adult sites, all you have to do is to click on the button to make the entry "splash" welcome page with the terms and conditions disappear so that you can see the site. The page states that by clicking the button, "affirm that you are at least 18 years old and have read and agreed to the terms."

This is a work in progress and needs some further changes to make it right. Those include:
  • Adding an explicit "Exit" button for people who do not agree, similar to what other adult sites have
  • Adding a way for CFS Members - and possibly guests - to indicate that they wish to skip the entry "splash" for some period of time (three months? one year?) so that they won't be encumbered by it when they return to the site
  • Additional technical changes from the canned script from which I had adapted this from

This is not the big upgrade to the new software that will make the site more user-friendly and mobile friendly. However, it is a very necessary step to keep CFS going while I work on that.

The long explanation: I had been looking at our usage statistics over several months and realized that more and more people were reaching the older home page "splash" with the annoying check-box but never going further into the site.

The programming for the old version dated back to the mid- to late-2000s when Keith, the late former owner of the site, felt a need to put in place more stringent entry requirements for the site. However, although it worked for both of us - and most of the time he and I bypassed it by bringing up a different page from CFS in our browsers - over time browsers, HTML, CSS, and scripting standards changed. It began to be more and more problematic.

By recent years, some people reported they had to go through the process twice to enter the site. Others reported no problems. More recently, some began to be unable to enter the site at all.

Since Keith's passing I had been overwhelmed with many things, learning how to run my new company that owns the sites, dealing with the chronic severe health conditions and disability of my now-ex partner (and he still is living with me, thus my constant "personal emergencies" as he is in and out of hospitals frequently and requires care at home until he is able to find a new place to live), and many other matters. It just gets more and more intense, and lately I've been the person who "does it all," even when it means being awake 20 hours a day and always active. I'm hoping for a good long well-deserved rest.

But this isn't about me, it's about you and making it easier for you to use this site.

I hope this change helps. Please post here or use the Contact Form to let me know if you are having problems with the changes for the Home Page.
