Important: Change in Timing of Sex Listings Updates: Health Issues & CFS Upgrade

Publishing new Places and Reviews will temporarily be slowing down starting this month, August 2017, for two reasons:
  1. I will be having the first of two critical eye surgeries this month, including several medical appointments before and after. I expect to have a number of days off work.

  2. This month I will also begin working on the long-delayed and much needed software upgrades for CFS. Among other things, the changes are intended to make the site more mobile-friendly.
Eventually, there will also be either an ad-free or ad-minimized version of CFS for "Supporting Members" who will pay to have this and other additional benefits. CFS – with ads – will still be available to CFS members who choose not to pay and to anonymous Guests.

Recently I have been able to get through my Editorial Process and handle new Places and Reviews rather quickly. Years ago there were times it could take as long as seven to ten days.

I will not be able to update these every business day Monday through Friday as I have been, but I will make every attempt to keep CFS current. Likewise, I will not be able to check emails for CFS and the related sites generated by the Contact Form page as often.

If you are a CFS Member, remember that when you are logged in you may post on a Sex Listings page your plans to visit that place. Please allow at least five days for me to publish these.

If you usually post your plans on the Message Board, keep in mind the Sex Listings get more visitors. More cruisers are likely to see it.

If you are not logged in as a CFS Member or are not a Member and you post your plans, they are are either deleted or edited out of your Review.

Also, do not post your email address, phone number, an App handle, or any other form of contact information on the Sex Listings, the Message Board, or the Cruiser Gallery. Keep this in your CFS Profile Page. Use the "Best Ways To Contact You Outside CFS" section of your Profile if you want non-Members to see.

Questions or comments? Reply here or reach me through the Contact Form.

An update: I'll have the first of these eye surgeries tomorrow, Thursday August 17. I don't know when I'll be able to resume work afterward. That depends on the surgeon's evaluation at follow-up visits.

There will probably be no updates on CFS August 17-18. I'll also be unable to respond to messages from the Contact Form and the CFS Editor email account. If possible, I'll check in over the weekend.

Well it has now been 9 days since your surgery - I hope that all went well! Eyes are a scary thing to get worked on - but it is amazing how what they can do now that was never imagined just a few years ago.

Just wanted to let you know I was thinking of you and hoping you are all healed and enjoying a couple of days off in addition...

Thanks! I was supposed to have a post-surgery follow-up appointment today. It's postponed because of our incredible flooding here in Houston. If it ain't one thing, it's another.

I'd moved my car to higher ground before Harvey because my carport floods. Yesterday I waded through water above my knees - in the carport - to get to the place where I parked the car so I could move it again. I'm happy there's a couple steps up into my place and no flooding inside. Some of my neighbors have had minor flooding, but nothing like what you see on TV. So far - it's still raining.

I am still trying to balance work on the regular CFS content and updates with work on the upgrade project and other programming. These are things that truly can't be delayed anymore, since CFS will go out of business without them.

More to come, including a second surgery when I can schedule it.

Glad to hear you are safe and dry - it is going to take Texas a long time to get over this - hopefully you have escaped the worst!

Keep us posted

Thanks! I was really lucky with Harvey. So many folks down here were not.

Going to see my eye surgeon again tomorrow for another follow-up, so far so good. It's amazing for the first time in my life to see without glasses or contacts. :) Hope to schedule the surgery for the other eye soon.

It is amazing what they can do with eye surgery these days...

Now when your Mother says "Stop that you will go blind" teenage boys can ignore her knowing they can get laser surgery to fix it! ;)

Glad you have had good luck with both the hurricane and the surgery.

We've scheduled the procedure for the other eye in early October.

FYI, publishing updates to the Sex Listings may slow down even more so than in August. That's because I plan to spend more time, seriously and intensively, on software upgrades needed to keep CFS in business.

I may have some spare cycles to help you if you need it.

Thanks. Send me a PM or email and let me know what you'd like to do.

Having been taught from childhood to be overly self-sufficient, I've always been the sort of person who doesn't know how and when to ask for help, much less how best to use it.

It's almost five years now since Keith passed away and all those boxes started arriving from Georgia. Back then I knew (or had been exposed to) nearly all the tech side, except for a few surprises and Easter Eggs. However, I knew nothing about Keith's business and finances until shortly before his passing. Once the estate closed, I had the software and the database but no starting cash. And then the servers kept crashing... It's been a roller coaster since.

Keith and I both knew the already outdated software we were using wouldn't work well in the mobile world, but he had seemed to think I could sort of put lipstick and makeup on it to make do. I knew that was a non-starter. So many things happened, more than I want to explain, to keep me from the upgrade I knew we needed.

So, that's five years of business problems, personal problems, health problems, a bad break-up, you name it. What's done is done.

I believe CFS is worth preserving and keeping online, not just for its historical and archival value but also for some truly hot Reviews that I keep reading, editing, and publishing all the time. There's an interest and a need for this outlet, especially the long-form "story" reviews you might not see on other sites. We get a lot of one-liners and such, but there's also a great amount of one-handed reading.

Writing is also one of my worst self-indulgences. I'll stop and try to get back to work.
