You need to have a membership or you can pay for a day pass.
That being said, whenever I travel, I always go to the local gym and tell them that my company is transferring me to the area and I am thinking about joining a gym. Doing this, I have never paid for a day pass. When I was in New Jersey last year, the Bally's gave me a week free pass.
