If you pass the Lido before 6 p.m., it definitely looks closed. Vendors set up outside the theater and, well, it is closed. At 6 the street clears and the doors open and the fun begins.
In my experience there no one asks for money to do anything. I met two guys there who I ended up taking back to my place. It definitely does not draw a hustler crowd. Not sure what else you want to know, but I'm envious and wish I were returning to the Lido! |

Thanks for the quick reply! It sounds like a lot of fun. Can you describe the crowd that you found there--especially since they weren't asking for money? Would you describe it as more of a married/closeted cinema crowd, like in Brazil or Turkey, or more of a "gay" crowd? Also, I do have a few more questions, if you don't mind answering!  Was it super-dark, or could you see what you were doing? About how many guys were there on the time(s) you went? What was the approximate age range when you went? Did any cinema employees come in to bother people having fun inside the cinema? Etc. I do have some experience in cinemas, but none in the Dominican Republic. Lido is still open 6:30 to 10:30. 150p entrance.
There is a lobby with refreshment stand and big clock. Then walk thru the next set of doors to enter the seating of the theater. Bathroom is on the right down the stairs.
