is there any cruising left in midtown?

seems like all of the good spots are dead or too risky. anyone know of any good cruising spots in hotels or elsewhere?

ditto question; visiting NYC from out of town. there used to be lots of places to party like GCN, Vinnies, etc. Is there anything like that anywhere now?
