Thumbs up Babylon Barracks

OK, so I appreciate there is a wealth of comment about BABYLON - all 7 pages or so. But what of the Babylon Barracks? Has anyone stayed at the barracks and what was it like? I'm not interested in the suites - they are too pricey. However, THE BARRACKS? What kind of facilities do they have? Separate rooms, any bathroom facilities in the room or is it all for one and one for all in a communal orgy??? The information on their website is not really very informative and some personal experiences would be appreciated. Cheers!

In fact, I'm leaving today for Bkk, and decided to stay at the Barracks, since I'll only be in Bkk for about 15 hours, in transit to China--from about midnight on Friday the 14th to maybe 17:00 on Saturday. And it's only Bht 1000, so I thought why not give it a try?? We'll see.....I'll be sure to report my experiences soon.

I arrived into Bkk from Minneapolis on late Friday night, around 24:00. I took a taxi from the queue outside the airport, and it ended up costing about 200 Bht including tollway costs, and took just about 20 minutes--no traffic. The driver didn't know Babylon, so I just told him "Sathorn Soi Neung", which will get you to the road that the old Babylon was on, then tell him "Soi Nantha"--or just tell him to turn when you see the right soi, if you know where you're going.
As we drove up, I saw so many boys leaving the sauna---I wished I'd arrived earlier, but alas I hadn't. I checked in upstairs, and they only charged me 700 Baht, since the sauna was already closed. They usually give you 2 free sauna tickets (per day I think, but I'm not sure) and since I was only staying one night, they just charged me 700. A bargain!
They showed me to my room, and it was nice--2 twin beds, very clean, no TV or anything....but just fine. I went out to Freeman's 3rd Floor until 2am, and sucked 3 guys in their 20's--all very sexy, and got fucked by a muscular Thai guy (visiting from Stockholm) in the toilets, before heading back to Babs. I arrived around 2:30, and went to take a shower.

The showers are kind of like the ones in the sauna--good pressure, hot. And groups are apparently common as well! I met a 20-year-old Thai boy there, who likes to stay in the Barracks some weekends. I wonder why?? Anyway, he was a bit small, but I like em small sometimes. He came to my room after our showers, and fucked me, then went to sleep. The next morning, he stopped by, woke me up, and fucked me again. Nice!

The breakfast was basic, but very fresh, clean, and nice. Fresh fruit, breads, coffee, juices, and Thai chicken rice soup were on offer, very nice. I met a few friendly guys, one older gent from Sydney, and a hot Filipino muscle boy from S'pore. With group breakfast, showers, and everything else, you're bound to run into someone sexy at the Barracks.

That's the only complaint I think you'd have from the Barracks: Fatigue! If you close your door, you can sleep all right, but you always know there's another guy right outside.....for instance, after my young Thai boy left, I went to take another shower--to clean off--really!

And a German bear boy was waiting when I came out. He was about 185 cm, 85 kg, but a decent body, etc. But I was just too tired! Is it my old age (33)??? Anyway, I told him I had to go to bed. Hope he found some other fun later.....

So, for a short stay (maybe 3 nts or less) I think the Barracks is great--you can use the sauna, gym, and have a place to sleep, all for a quite good price when the sauna tickets are included. And for me, the guy from Sydney ended up giving me his ticket for the Sauna on Saturday, since he wasn't going to use it anyway. Thanks!

midwestbttmboy32 - thank you for your comprehensive and informative post about Babylon Barracks. My next visit to Bangkok will be for 3 nights so maybe I will stay at the Barracks. Sounds like fun and since I'm always horny and on the prowl when on holiday, I think it might just be my kind of scene! I kind of enjoy thinking about being there nearly as much as actually being there - well mayb not, but memories from previous visits and anticipation of things to come sure are a lot of fun!

Yes, Babylon does have suites with private bath facilities. But they are significantly more expensive than the regular rooms with shared facilities (3 - 4,000 baht per night, last time I checked).

Comparing Babylon with the Sathorn Saint View is really like comparing apples and oranges. Babylon, of course, is exclusively gay. And while the regular rooms there are simply furnished, they are done up in a classy style similar to the rest of the place (lots of granite and slate).

The Sathorn Saint View is NOT a gay hotel. It is just a regular old cheap hotel where some gay people (and a lot more straight people) happen to stay.

I have never stayed there, but I have inspected the place and it's a bit of a fleabag (in my opinion -- no flames, please). At a level perhaps even lower than that of the Malaysia Hotel.

But, yes, it is cheap, and I guess at least one poster here has had luck seducing (or being seduced by) members of the staff.

Hot Viking - Please post your opinion of Babylon Barracks once you've experienced the place. Sounds like the sex is a happening thing - I am interested to know what the ACCOMMODATION is like! I have no objection to communal bathroom facilities, should make for a whole new way to meet new people, but at the end of the day, is the bed conducive to a good night's sleep?!

LuvThailand, I didn't mention much about the ACCOMODATION in Babylon Barracks because there really isn't much to say:
The rooms have two twin beds (though some might have double beds, not sure). There is a small desk, a chair for the desk, and a night tabel between the beds. A light overhead, an air-con. A small safe. That's it. Nothing else. It's quite spare, but actually feels nice anyway, probably since everything is well-made--granite, marble, tile, everything in dark greys and black. It was usually quiet, I slept well, and got up around *:30, so I could eat breakfast. I think bfast ends at 11. The Tarntawan's breakfast is whenever you get up, I've had it as late as 5pm!

It's a good deal, if you use the sauna tickets you get. And it's a high-quality place, good people working there. Still, for 1000 thb, it's not cheap when you compare it to the 850 including bf at a real ensuite hotel nearby within walking distance, the Pinnacle. So it pretty much just depends on if you want to have a lot of sex--almost nonstop for me ( a decent-looking guy, in good shape, age 33.) And who doesn't want that, for a day or two?

Unhappy Barracks not really woth the money

I stayed in the Barracks last year December for 3 nights - and I decided to take one of the two less expensive Barroness Suites (at 3500bt/night). Well, it was not really a suite, just a large, nicely decorated room with nice view (especially from the bathroom)... but not really worth the money, I think. You can find really luxurious accomodation somewhere else for that money in Bkk; and I had a look at the "Standard" rooms - really different from the suites, but as well not worth the money, I think. These rooms don't have a bathroom and no minibar, and even not always a tv, i think. Better stay at the Pinnacle.

Wow that's really a lot of money thrown away.

You could have got a similar accommodation for abt one third of the price. Why not try Tower Inn situated at the Sathorn location. Facilities over there are OK and moreover they are gay friendly.

Have a peep at their website

http://www.towerinnbangkok.com

before you decide to book a room. I'm sure you will enjoy the stay there. Anyway I do.
