Rosie Kills Variety
 

I'm not a Rosie hater, but I do regret that Rosie O'Donnel may have single handedly setback a comeback for the variety show:

The Rosie Live show sucked, big time. Rosie just is too into herself to play host in the traditional sense. Variety shows that were long-standing classics like Ed Sullivan succeeded because the host was mostly a minor figure during the hour of broadcast. The center of attention was on the acts, well-known and totally unknown. Rosie just can't allow herself to not be the focus.

On the other hand, I really enjoyed the other variety show that aired this week, the one from that other lesbo talent, Ellen DeGeneres. NBC would have been smarter to go with Ellen because she gets how a variety show should work. And she is soooooo much funnier!
