Parents Can Legally Show Porn To Minor Children In Texas

Randall County, Texas District Attorney has declined to take any action against a father who forced his 8- and 9-year old daughters to watch online videos of people in group sex and other sexual acts. He asked the Texas Attorney General to review his decision for clarification. I assume this would apply to male children as well.

According to the DA's office, one of the girls told a school counselor back in June that when they visited their father's house in Amarillo, he made them watch the sex acts on the computer. When the ex-wife complained to police, she was advised that there is nothing that can be done about it. Based on 1970s-era legislation designed to protect the rights of parents to teach their children about sex education at home, parents can not be prevented from showing "harmful material" to their minor children of any age. Even the mother can not prevent this by denying visitation rights as the Texas penal code states "harmful material" such as pornography is considered defensible from prosecution if "the sale, distribution, or exhibition to a minor who was accompanied by a consenting parent, adult, or spouse."

Now I make a living dealing in adult entertainment material, and I find this situation reprehensible. I also find it ironic that in Texas, an adult of legal age can not order or buy any personal pleasure products (vibrators, masturbators, etc.), but they can show adult videos to their kids?

Like they say "Don't Mess With Texas", it's already messed up enough!

I'm sorry to offend our Texas users, but your state is simply weird! This is an amazing interpretation of a law that was very likely badly written in the first place.
