DISCUSSION: Election issue or not
With President Obama ending "Don't ask, Don't tell" and coming out in support of gay marriage rights; gay issues are now a hot topic on the campaign circuit. Some welcome the attention show on our struggle for equality in Society, and others prefer to stay off the campaign radar to prevent a backlash against gays.
What is your opinion? |
I think it would have been better for his reelection chances if he (and Biden) had not addressed gay marriage before the election.
People voting based on gay issues will already vote for him because of DADT - but his public support for gay marriage will help invigorate the religious right and make them more likely to turn out and vote against Obama than they would have been to turn out and vote for a Mormon. |
