some questions
 

Hi there. Am new to the "scene" and would like to have a 3some with my girlfriend and another guy or transgendered. She is up for it, we just don't know where to start.

Everything seems so intimidating, and shall I say a bit unsafe....

So is there any advice you can give us on where to start?

For one thing, there are quite a few people on this site (myself included) that are bi. Me, I love to go down on a man or a woman and for a long time. I would make it a 100% requirement that whomever does it wears protection and you both do the same. If you were both "tops" then more of the risk would be on the third. Caution is always the key. I would recommend meeting in a public place first and proceed from there. I happen to be a bottom who loves to give oral/rim, be facesat and into watersports.
