What is usually involved in getting tested for std's? What do they usually test for, how do they do it and where can you go to get it done? Personally I'd rather go somewhere other than to my regular doctor. Thanks

It all depends on what symptoms you have. Possible tests could include, but aren't limited to blood test, urine test, swab from inside the urethra, and oral swab (mucous). After that, there are any number of tests that can be performed on these body fluids to search for different diseases. Some of these tests can be costly, so a doctor isn't likely to just indiscriminately order a battery of tests for all possible STD's. Help yourself and the doctor out and answer any questions s/he has honestly.
