Have you tried the local section here on CFS for your area?

I have noticed traffic has started to pick up since CL shut down.

I looked at the "local" section, two posts this month so far for the 2nd most populated state in the US and the most recent poster is about 350 miles away... Actually the site has become so difficult to navigate that if I was not a user of CFS from years ago that its unlikely I could even find the local messageboard section.

I'll work on revising that when I can. So many projects, so little time...

I accidently found a page called Doublelist. You can place ads like on CL, but you need to be creative in your wording, or they'll flag your post. Can't say suck, etc. Alter

I have tried to register a couple of times - but it won't accept my cell phone number - it keeps saying "invalid number".

They have a FAQ for that.

I will admit - I am a bit nervous about them having my cell number and the ability to keep tabs on what I am posting...

I wish there were some local (to me!) even drilling down the member list, quite a few (were?) in my area, but try to find one that was active in the last decade! let alone recently... & many their sign on date is the same as last active. so sad. Af far as a substitution for CL, I Haven't found anything that is not a smartphone app. :-(
