Two questions about saunas and go-go bars
 

Hello all,

I was just wondering if I could pick the board's collective brains on two other questions? I am visiting Bangkok in the next couple of weeks so I want to plan my activities before I get there...

1. Do any of the go-go bars have rooms on site if you 'off' a boy? Somehow it just sounds like hard work to go and find a hotel, but maybe I am just lazy.

2. Someone mentioned that Sauna Mania has loincloth night on Fridays. Needless to say, I will be arriving on Saturday. Does anywhere have loincloth or naked night on Saturdays?

Most bars used to have "short time" rooms upstairs, but it made the bars too much like "brothels" for the comfort of the authorities. So it is now rarer to find them.

I think -- but am not sure -- Solid has one. Also Waterloo in Saphan Kwai. Can't think of any others off-hand.

On the sauna question, I think I'll let Ninja handle that one. I can't keep them all straight. I'm pretty sure that Farose has naked night every night, though, as well as The Door. Ninja?

Farose has naked zone every night after 9-9:30 pm. The Door has naked zone every night after 7 pm. Also Cruising Sauna on Lad Prao and Paradox Sauna near Prakonong still have naked zone every day, I believe. Underground 39 has naked zone every Monday and Wednesday after 7 or 8 pm, loin cloth on all other nights. The Stud used to have naked zone every Saturday and Sunday, but I don't know their schedule now that they've opened under the new name Ass Play. Good View Sauna and Su Casa have naked zone or party night on certain days of the month, but I'm not sure of their current schedule.

Solid, Golden Cock, Alek and Super A all have rooms available upstairs, but some of them of a questionable quality.

According to a very recent post on a Thai-Japanese web board ,
39 will have NAKED ZONE every night from next Tuesday ,
so I am not sure if they will still provide loin cloth .

One of my close friends told me S CASA provided loin cloth insted of a bath towel last time he visited .

The GOOD VIEW provides 2 piece of face towels ( not loin cloth )

Waiting for a summary of 39 Sauna's merits as a venue to visit.Scanning the posts I don't think anyone here has actually been.Their advertising sounds interesting especially the cages on site.

I've been to 39; so has Ninja and maybe a few others. Similar crowd to Farose: local, young, and there for sex and free booze. Foreigners a rare sight, and they won't get the same box office as they would at Babylon. Key code is in place: but it on your right wrist to identify yourself as a top, left wrist as a bottom, and or either ankle for versatile. Basic facilities; not fancy, but fairly clean

Sorry, I don't (haven't made it there yet), but it's called "S. Casa" not Su Casa.

The crowd at Underground 39 is as Icon describes it. I've been there 6-7 times, and only once was there another farang there. I like the layout, it gets very intimate because it's small, and the fourth floor is nice with a small, semi-open room on a little mezzanine. I like the layout at the Door better though, particularly the open-air top floor with a steam room and a dry sauna. But it's more of a trek to get out to the Door; 39 is more convenient because it's so close to the Saphan Kwai sky train station. Still, Farose, in spite of its wornout facilities, outshadows the others in terms of number and action and sheer sexual atmosphere. As for all these and other local saunas, the majority of the customers are mainly interested in other asians. But I've never been to any of them and not found someone who is also interested in someone like me. I went to Sauna Mania for the first time yesterday, on their "extra" naked zone night, and I was very impressed. The place is very clean, the maze on the third floor very conducive to action, and the crowd was fun.

S Casa (sorry I misspelled it the first time) is located on Soi Glang Mueang, sidesoi 6 on Lad Prao, just next to the intersection with Rachadapisek. It's one of the few local saunas that I have not been to yet, simply because my thai friends have told me that they have few customers. That may change, though, as the owners seem to be beefing up their publicity with promotions and party nights. The facilities are supposed to be very, very nice.

For me the local saunas are a nice break from Babylon - a change of atmosphere and a change of crowd. But in terms of opportunities for a farang, none of them can beat Babylon. It's simply impossible, even if you look like a troll, not to score at Babylon.

upstairs
 

There are still upstairs rooms at Alek, Super A, and My Way. All are pretty basic if not very dirty. Not sure if Solid has rooms, but it's in the old Khun Bar location so it should.

If you're offing boys from Super A, Alek, or My Way, I'm guessing hygiene is not at the top of your list of concerns to begin with. I feel like I need a shower after spending five minutes in one of those places.

I was just kidding. I'm sure they're perfectly "clean", but the boys at those three bars are known to be a bit urchin-like. A friend of mine calls them "garbage pail kids".

It was QUIET last night .

I really wouldn't recommend this place on Tue & Thursdays .
It's not busy as when they opened and had special entry 99 Bhats for every one .

I really recommend SAUNA MANAIA ( w/ends) and THE DOOR ( any days ) .

Ninja, I will be in BKK this Sat - Mon, then off to Bali. I cannot tell exactly what day I will be visiting the 39. Last month I had planed to visit Farose on Wed or Thur, but couldn't make it. I went there on Sat !!. I change my mind as quickly and often as I change men.

By the way, I read on a Thai board that the 39 on Tuesday is hot. All areas are naked zone including the locker area. They don't even hand out a loin clothe. There seem lots of positive comments about this particular Tuesday event.

Ninja, someone said on a Thai board that he went back on Monday 25th and they had another naked zone. Also an ad on palm-plaza says that there is a naked zone after 8 PM every Mondays and Wednesdays. Don't know if the ad is dated.

Tight money boys prefer carrots to sticks. But wonder how long it will be before they find a drug to make your tongue rigid?

The whole place was a naked area
( as you mentioned , from the locker room )

But the regular naked zone ( Mon & Wed ) is limited on the 3rd and 4th foor ( and the roof top )

...and yes, foreigners are more than welcome at Sauna Mania. Just don't expect as high a concentration of Thai guys who will be interested in you as you might find at Babylon.

Well, I just got back from my trip and I thought I should report back after all the helpful advice.

I went to 39 on a saturday evening around 7pm. It was all loincloths which was quite cool. The actual sauna itself is merely OK, and there wasn't a huge amount of action going on, although it was early. The place is definitely less enthusiastic about farangs than, say, Babylon, but there were still plenty of opportunities going.

I tried Sauna Mania later the same night. It was quite busy and the sauna itself is very nice. However, it was underwear night on Saturday which I found to be a bit of a pain in the ass. You kept having to take your undies off and put them back on again and they quickly got quite wet so I had to go commando for the rest of the evening. Personally, underwear in saunas seems like overdressing to me but each to their own. I did see advertisements for loin cloth night on (I think) Fridays, but I don't know if that is a permanent fixture or just at the moment.

For old times' sake, I also tried Babylon on Tuesday evening. It was fairly dead; mostly elderly farang with expensive Thai companions. They do still do a fantastic massage there, although you have to go to the steam room for a 'happy ending'.

I also checked out GQ massage. It was excellent - a really good massage and an absolutely lovely 'therapist'. Much classier than the usual joints and highly recommended.
