Alternative rail links ?

Is this a kind of an alternative airport rail links ,
OR just a joke ? :(

A BKK post airticle

"The State Railway of Thailand (SRT) has been ordered to establish special train services from city stations such as Hualampong to Ladkrabang where passengers can take special bus services to the airport,"

I'm 100% certain that this is correct. And as long as we're talking about amazing things that happen in The Land of Smiles, don't forget that the government also announced that the HIV transmission rate amongst sex industry workers has been reduced to less than 3%....and if that's not enough, let's not forget that a couple of years ago Thailand was declared drug free.

to be honest... taxis are so cheap that still I think so many people would use them without thinking twice, as we all do it now from Don Muang. Of course, it *should* have a real rail link, but come on... this is Thailand. Make things look shiny, but fundamentally flawed underneath.

Meanwhile, I travel on business every 4 weeks, and my flights are planned months ahead.

I'm telling you now... I'm glad my September flight is on the 27th Sep!!!! That gives them 4 weeks to sort out the mess at Suvarnabhumi before I get back.

And where the heck is the fun in the Don Muang toilets? I've never seen anyone in any of them :(

Non-airconditioned

YES ! This is Thailand .
All MRT in Singapore and MRT ( and LRT ) in KL are air-conditioned .
This is not like your catching a connecting bus from Nilai station of KTM commuter .

So , how many of The State Railway of Thailand (SRT)'s trains are air-condtioned ???
I mean those short to middle range distance day trip trains .
( I don't want to mention their frequency :( )

Do they REALLY think the new airport is going to be the region's air hub ?

Oh, definitely. Certainly you must know the earth rotates around Bangkok!

The world, according to many Thais, consists of Bangkok, surrounded by Thailand, with on the fringes something like Bad Birma, Little Laos, distant China and something insignifant called farangland.

The question remains: under which Thai king will it become a hub? My guess is Rama XXV.

I spoke with several farang managers, none of them believes the real opening (of operations) will be remotely possible in September. Possibly a face saving grand opening, maybe one or two flights, but they are quite certain that will be it.
