Can anybody update us on the bar scene, especially what kind of shows are where? Do they still close at midnight? And do the shows still have to be rather tame? Any news would be appreciated.

Anything goes....depending on police presence. Nothing ever changes much in The Land of Smiles.

I'm not certain about closing time because I've always made my choice long before then and have some young 'uns face buried in the pillow.

i have to disagree. during the past week, it has been super tame. i'am not sure if it was because of the police "raid" on thrusday nite. but the big c**k show is done with the men wearing shorts.

no f**k show in tawan, dreamboys, x-boys and the boys. i hope this does not last. but with your holiday lasting a few days, it like playing the roulette.

It's kind of like the weather in San Francisco. If you don't like it, just wait a couple hours.

Icon is 100% correct. For anyone who's not a "regular" in Thailand, you need to understand that the police and bar owners continually play "cat and mouse"...often times depending on the time of the month and how much corruption money the police are expected to hand up to their superiors. Whenever it's time for them to ante up, there's a better chance that they'll be watching the bars closer. Likewise, whenever the're a "Royal" anything going on, there's probably a better chance of police presence. I've been in bars before when they flash bright lights which is the cue for the boys to make a mad dash off the stage...even if they're in the middle of the fucking show...because the police are on their way up the soi. Like San Francisco weather....you just never know.
