Best Cinemas in other countries?
The good old suck cinema is a dying breed, even in BKK. Can anyone recommend other countries with still-active suck cinemas?
I have been to ones in Istanbul (decent), and Rio de Janeiro (amazing), and Manila (a bit annoying, with little action but plenty of guys). Any other input here? |

Cinemas all over the world
I have traveled the world looking for cinemas and i know most of them that are left...they are fading fast. I have been doing this for the last 19 years and I have correspondents and cinema fans who give me updates too.
I have been in cinemas in about 30 countries. Be specific about where and I will tell you what I know. A country I am seeking cinema info on is Vietnam. Everyone says they have them, but no one can tell you anything. If I have a clue, I will go there and find them. The prior post is correct about the Lido in Santo Domingo. Rio and Sao Paulo both have many cinemas. Buenos Aires has several. Mexico still has many as do most Latin American countries. |
Not that this is on topic . . .
. . . but I wonder when this phenomenon began.
In the late 1960s, a friend of mine took a trip to Brazil (I forget which city) and came back amazed by the cinema action. I have experience dating back to the early 1960s in Chicago, which had plenty of action though usually more furtive than I heard Brazil's was. |

What is the current state of fun theaters in Thailand? I'm looking forward to a future trip!
