Phahonyotin Theater

hercul estoo (pretty sure it was you, Peter :) ) submitted a comment to this theater in the Sex Listings looking for better directions, etc. I generally don't post Sex Listings comments that are direct appeals for information, etc. We've long tried to keep a back-and-forth dialogue out of the Listings and on the Board here instead...leaving the Listings to hard info/actual experiences about a cruising location.

So, does anybody know where this place is? If it still exists? That Listing came in July of 2004 originally and we've had almost no additional information on it. I've done a basic Google search but came up with nothing. (I do this for as often as time allows when Listings come in with vague information.)

If anyone knows anything please speak up. If not, I think it's time to kill that Listing off.

Thanks!

The correct name of the place is the "Phaholyothin Rama". It's across from Big C Saphan Kwai. Still open and very active.

Thanks!

Ask and I shall receive, I guess. That's very good to know and I've updated the Listing a bit.

Very much appreciated. :)

Take BTS., (SkyTrain.), to SAPHAN KWAI, (N7.), stn.;
Go to Exit 1.;
Descend to street-level;
There make a LEFT-about turn and walk-back along Phanon Yothin rd. against the road-traffic flow as if you were returning to centraL BKK.;
After approx. 75yds. you'll see Paoli Mem'l. Hospital on your LEFT hand side, (NOT quite so far along as the BIG C superstore.);
Just about there you'll see a small & covered arcade/soi running away to your RIGHT, (sorry, I forget wch. shops are on its corners, possibly one of them is a drug-store/pharmacy?),;
Walk-down this soi and you'll see the 'PHAHOL THEATRE.' directly in front of you.
For alternative dir'ns. seek those for '39 U'gd. Sauna.'*, wch. is hard by but a bit further down at end of same soi!
Should you be seeking a short-time hotel with your new acquaintance then your new-found companion should know where to go.
* 1,151, P'yothin rd., soi 39.;
(02)-279 1511. --- http://www.thailandout.com/39/
E&OE.. Usual disclaimers etc. etc..

Thanks Sextile -- much appreciated. What is the name of this cinema near Ari please ?

I ask as I will make a list of names and directions how to get there for all cruising cinemas in Bangkok that I learn about so that there will be an uptodate list should other guys share my interests -- and I'm sure that there is lol!

39 Undergound Sauna.
Sky Train staion is Saphan Kwai

Gany 13th July 2007 03:18 AM

There is another theatre on the other side of the street, on the Big C side. Is that one worth cruising?

sextile 13th July 2007 06:53 AM

As Passiv4top kindly pointed-out the BTS. stn. for Phahol Theatre on P'Yothin. rd. is NOT Ari, (N5.), but SAPHAN KWAI, (N7.), - thanks.
Apologies for error; I've corrected my original posting.
Talking with a mature friend from America who's a frequent visitor to that movie-house he alleges that it's 'Sticky Rice.' and that maturer farangs would stand a better chance of making contacts were they to stay down in the main body of the cinema; going-up to the back section is for the younger spectators.

Funny enough, one New Year's Day (I think 2006?) I tried to go to P.Rama but it was closed due to a special show for the holiday.
So I gave that other cinema a try, and I lucked out--I blew two young guys, in their early 20s, who were hanging around watching the movie but standing near the men's room door (which is actually off of the main theater--it's not down a hallway or anything, it's a door in the back of the cinema.
Toilets were reasonably clean--this is an actualy cinema where there were more "regular" folks--not just cruisers.
Also met a 30yo guy who took me to that short-time hotel to fuck me--twice ! :)
Not sure if it was more busy because the suck cinema was closed, or if it was a normal day there. I'd give it a try at least once, just to check it out if P.Rama is closed or not your cuppa tea.

I think the name of that theater is the Mongkol Rama.

herculestoo 17th July 2007 12:48 AM

Suck Cinemas - the search continues - but we're getting there!

:) Thanks guys.

I am in Bangkok now and found the Prince easily after all of the help I got here.

I will try out the Prince tomorrow and let you know how it went.

Meantime, any one know where the Asia Theatre is please ? It is supposed to be "across the road from the Chao Praya" but as I don't knw where the Chao Praya is it's all a bit academic lol!

Also any news on the whereabouts of "The State Theatre" please ?

Thanks again

Peter

I could be wrong, but I thought the Asia was one of the ones that was torn down in the Prakanong area?

The State is in Samrong, across from the mouth of Sukhumvit 111 (same side as Imperial / Big C Samrong). There's a marquee on the main road, but the theater is off the street in a bombed-out commercial complex.

herculestoo 17th July 2007 05:03 AM

Thanks

Thanks again Icon - I'll find Samrong on map and give it a go.

Peter
