Agreed. The Russians made quite a splash (literally) on Pattaya beach with several nude copulations taking place in full public view (too much sun and Wodka !) The cops clearly could not allow this to become the latest "must do " tourist event and wasted no time in fining those concerned. ... however I suspect in a gay bar (where the moral majority are never going to venture) it would be nothing that a BT 1,000 note couldn't fix ... but like you, I would not want to be the first to in that situation.

I'm sure it has and would certainly be possible in some situations. But not all. Especially if press and/or vigilante NGO groups or embassies are involved, or if the police are otherwise under the gun to produce results. That's how things work.

Taking a consenting adult back to your room is hardly a crime, and I assume the cop produced his ID before any hanky pancky - so what was he going to be charged with? I think the story about the cop extorting money from the guy for 8 months is a bunch of b.s. After the cop left on the first visit, I don't see what would make the farang keep paying. Unless the cop was threatening to go to where the farang worked, and arrest him at work. I certainly would have called the bluff very early.
