Last year, when in BKK with friends, one of them got food poisoning. Stayed at Pinnacle and asked reception to get Doctor for my friend as he couldn't get up to go to the nearest hospital. The Dr told us he's based in Shangri La hotel and we knew we were in trouble when the bill came. Just medication and a shot cost a whopping bht5000! So, its always good to be prepared with medication from home.

Same hotel recommended BNH Convent hospital and general doctor and chemist there charged reasonable.

Last year I twisted my ankle in Suriwong slipping off a broken curb stone . I took a cab to the BKK Christian Hospital in Silom . I was seen by a Dr within 30 minutes, strapped up, given pain killers and anti swelling drugs and the total cost was about 450 bht. Cheap and efficient. Now I have a registration card so it would probably be even quicker in future! (Same cost for Thai, expat residents and tourists.)

Bangkok Christian and BNH are good, I've had operations at both places. Good service & decent prices.
I'd avoid Bumrungrad. Despite it's 'good reputation', the more you ask around, the more you hear about people who go there and don't seem to get better, or worse. They probably average mostly successful procedures. But they have more than their share of poor service. I have my own 'horror story'.

I can vouch for C'man's horror story!

I also stopped going to Bumrungrad a long time ago. Assembly line medicine at its worst.

Hard to beat the Health Check Up at Bumrungrad.
Comprehensive and excellent records to compare year after year. Price is more then competitive.

After that I think it is just a matter of the Dr you get for any specialty. There are good ones and bad ones at every Hospital which is the reason if anything serious , you always get a 2nd opinion.

I agree Bumrungrad is an assembly line in some ways but there is no where you can see a specialist faster or get the tests done quicker.

Then it comes down to the Doctor
