Osaka
 

I plan to go beyond Tokyo this year and wonder if Osaka is recommended for a visit and for CFS style night time fun.

Any sauna or accommodation tips appreciated.May try Kyoto too which I believe is the more interesting city to explore.

It has been about 7 years since I was in Osaka. I am not familiar enough with the CFS style activities, but there is (or was) a bar called Physique which catered to the gaisen crowd.....the japanese who like foreigners. You could often meet people there. There was also a disco nearby named Explosion (same building, I believe) where many foreigners meet up with the japanese.

I visited Osaka last July for a couple of days and really dissappointed. I was with my long time partner (of 16 years) so not aggressively cruising, however very dissappointed with the scene there now compared to 10 years ago when I was a regular visitor. Most of the scene is in the rabbit warren called Doyama-Ku, but less gay bars now. Christophers (my favourite) long closed and the bars we went to (it was mid week) only had a handfull of patrons. Osaka generally is much more laid back than Tokyo and if you can find a good venue you'll find the natives very friendly!
