Hey guys,

I have not been to Pattaya in over a year and I have my first 3 day weekend over the King's Birthday weekend so I thought I would drop down there and escape BKK.

Few questions.

1. I do not drink much so no alcohol being served on that Friday is not a problem, but is there any place to go and meet people on Friday when I assume that the "traditional" establisments will be closed?

2. I am looking for a better hotel/guesthouse than I have stayed in the past...I know that this is not a CFS topic, (and as a moderator I should not ask), so I will clarify to make it more appropriate......a decent place near the cruising/bar areas that would allow "guests". I was thinking of Sansuk or Poseiden.

Private and Public recommedations welcome.

Cute twinky and/or swimmer build bottom guy recommendations are also welcome. May even have a mini party if the the right group presents itself.

If the Royal funeral weekend is any guide, it will be pretty quiet in Pattaya. Last month Sunee and Boystown were in darkness for 3 days... literally the whole sois blacked out, but on 3rd night the girlie bars opened while most of the gay bars remained firmly locked (including Panorama.) I expected the streets to be full of cruisers, but the boys told me they just went to thai cafes, ate and slept. Your best chance for pick ups will be Dong-Tan beach at Jomtien any afternoon, and early evening. When the lights are back on, try Dude bar off South Pattaya Road for some great Coyote dancers (from about 1 am to 3 am +). They are mainly straight ... so a few more whiskeys may be needed! Can't advise on hotels as I'm a condo dweller, but Cafe Royale and Ambiance used to be pretty good .. perfect location and you only get strange looks if you don't take a boy back! If you want more space for group fun, try a condo from Augie at asian-escapes.com. Whilst he was booked out for the season, he's bound to have cancellations now!

One very pleasant guy, who very recently stopped being a coyote Dude dancer from 01:00 to 03:00 has a GayRomeo profile. I met him in Bangkok when he used to study there and just go to Dude for weekend shows. I don't know why he quit...maybe someone who likes the dancers may want to contact him as I know he is looking for work. His Gromeo handle is berker1165. His sexuality is clearly shown on the profile.

Starting from the junction of Pattaya 2nd Rd and Pattaya South Rd (where all the baht buses to Jomtien start) head along Pattaya South Rd in the direction of Sukhumvit Road. About 100 metres before crossing Pattaya 3rd Rd ther's a soi on the left and a large illuminated sign pointing to Dude bar. It's just 100 metres into that soi on the left.
