Masseurs age in Bkk.
 

I was quite taken by a good looking,un-twink like young man at Arena a few weeks ago.He had a standard,untrendy appearance and a winning smile.He didn't look under-age,just fresh.Us farangs often make an error in estimating Asian age and sometimes receive a lecture so I took all into account and assessed the masseurs' age at 18-20 but that could also be slightly less and as my Thai companion cautioned - dangerous.When he asked the captain the age of this lad he repied that he was 18,maybe 19.In other words uncertain.

My question concerning Bangkok massage establishments of the popular kind is are the staff legal age ? I have read before to be careful of go-go trade but it was the first time I had a masseur concern.

I can't see how that can be guaranteed. The really, really popular places, such as Hero and V-Club, probably yes, because they tend to attract Asian customers. Generally speaking, Asian customers like the bigger boys, and teenagers don't have the physical build to be that size (again, speaking generally).

Places that are aimed at western customers, e.g. Bonny, I'd be less sure, because a significant number (not all, I stress) of westerners who vacation in Thailand go there precisely because of a stereotype that they are chasing - that of younger, smaller-built boys. So establishments that cater to this clientele could veer pretty close to the borderline, maybe even cross it.

There is/was one place, which I shall not name for obvious reasons, which had two different line-ups. Any customer who walks in would be given the first line-up consisting of guys in their twenties. The mamasan watches the customer's eyes to suss out his interest. If the eyes tend toward the youngest and smallest of that line-up, and if he does really look like a tourist (from ethnicity or accent), then the mamasan may mention that there is another possible line-up inside another room. No prizes for guessing what that line-up consists of.

Considering the current situation where all sorts of non-horny tourists are already being scammed for the slightest of things, I should be very careful about being caught in a situation where I was in a compromising situation with an under-aged person. Can you imagine how much they would ask as payment in such a case?

I think my post and Sloots indicated we understood the dangers.My question was about the likelihood of a mainstream establishment in Bangkok being careless with this.

My apologies, Dorothy and Sloot. I was under the impression that this post was meant for the newbie contemplating a trip to LOS with the intent of looking for muscular, handsome and very young-looking masseurs. I mean this is a rather specialized niche market and though I really can't imagine how big such a segment might be :D I thought it might be a good idea to voice the warning for anyone who hadn't already read all the warnings on the internet. There can't be many of those around, either, I suppose:D
