Circle Pub. New My Way. Free Guy operating. Adam's Apple is the only one with (half an hour) of what passes for gogo in Thailand. All have "shows" starting either 22:00h or 22:30h.

Powerboys is closed (despite the advertising still continuing on various boards.)

At New My Way now and then they do change the guy who does the tub scene, maybe as each starts to wrinkle.

Low season lower than ever. Relatively new(er) karaoke called Sofa Boys in Chiang Mai Land in the place that was the old His Karaoke down the street from the Blues Club massage. Not exactly uptown decor. It's basically Thai, farang rare there and mostly mountain boys with no English, though it stays open all night.

Thanks for the updates, I guess the much lower than normal low tourist season is having a big impact.

On the other hand I wonder how big the local (both Thai and western) customer base is, plus the visiting Bkk Thai customer base?

Had a third hand report that Adams Apple is just holding on, any comments?

I was only in the 'new' Adam's Apple one time in January. I went with 3 friends and we all walked out after about 15 minutes. Our view was it was not a patch on the old Adam's Apple which we always enjoyed. What we saw of the show was really boring with little enthusiasm being shown by the performers or the audience. I am not sure why the new owners ditched the old format (and I accept it may be something to do with local regulations), but if the boys had shown some spark and interest, maybe we would have stayed longer. Dull! Dull! Dull! Why the owners spent so much money on tarting up the space and then scrimping on the boys and the show completely beats me!

Now if they would only ditch the show and hire some of the great guys who used to work at the Powerboys club, they might be on to a winner.

I was in Chiang Mai for three days up to the 19th May, the day a grenade was thrown at the governor's house in response to the red-shirt capitulation in Bangkok. The night of the 19th saw the first of nightly curfews imposed in many cities across Thailand including Chiang Mai so I don't know how the bars have been affected. But prior to the 19th, I went to Adam's Apple and Circle Pub, and they were both busy, especially Adam's Apple which had a good floor show and sexy boys on parade. If they have followed the trend in Bangkok, then the bars should now be back in full swing. I note that Aus in the last few days has reduced the severity level of warnings against travel to Thailand, although this has not been reported by the media.

I was in Chiang Mai in May too, prior to the 19th and before the worst of the troubles broke out although I only went to Adam's Apple once. On the night I was there, the bar had a steady flow of customers putting bums on about 60 - 70 percent of seats. Perhaps Trentaus went on a different night, but on my night, I wouldn't call it "busy". It may be OK for low season, indicating that 100 percent could be achievable during high season.

As for the show, I would agree with fountainhall. There was little creativity, even less enthusiasm, and frankly, no talent. Although saying it like that makes it sound like it's the worst in Chiang Mai, the show is actually on par with New My Way and Free Guy.

The quality of the boys (24 available that night) was disappointing.
