'medications.' ...

-- Today, (07th.), an Elderly, Well-dressed & American Visitor stopped-by to talk with me;
- He mentioned that he'd ret'd. from CHINATOWN whither he'd gone to buy his 'Medications.';
- Being not unaware of the interest of certain Gentle Readers in such preparations I equired whence he bought them?
- Dir'ns.: In CHINATOWN and on Charoen Krung rd. walk-OUT of SUAPA PLAZA BLDG., (home of GSM. SAUNA.),
- Cross-over the rd.;
- Turn RIGHT and walk against the rd.-tfc. for approx. 100yds.;
- You should see a young lady with a portable table on the side-walk selling these preparations;
- I enquired about prices and was told that they're not expensive, 'Cheaper than many pharmacists.'.

-- Later-on he went to CHANG MASSAGE on Si Lom rd. and reported that the tablet that he took worked perfectly and did what it was intended to do! ;-)

I can't imagine buying pharmaceuticals from a card table set up on the sidewalk. And you don't have to go anywhere near that far to buy genuine Cialis (which is undoubtedly not what a lady with a card table set up on the sidewalk is selling.

They have it in virtually every pharmacy in lower Sukhumvit Road.

It is quite expensive, though.

Just because it worked doesn't mean it wasn't produced in some Chinese guy's bathroom. Most of the fake Viagra "works", too.

-- If it works, and with no deleterious side-effects, then if CHINATOWN is more convenient why go all the way to some pharmacy in lower S'vit. rd., and where it's quite expensive?

- Possibly some respondants have been too busy sharpening their pens instead?

I just asked a friend of mine who works at a Sukhumvit pharmacy, he told me their regular price for genuine Cialis is 1,800 Baht per 4 tablets. Depending on your negotiation skills and on the quantity you want to buy, you can get a better price.

Yes, about 1,800 baht for four is about right.

The only pharmacies that might not want to sell it to your are the corporat-owned chain operations.

But even they will sometimes if you are a trusted customer.

Not usually an issue with the family-owned independent ones.

I have never tried Cialis. How does it compare to Viagra?

For me vastly superior. I got hot flushes and sometimes tunnel vision with Viagra (and I'm otherwise pretty fit and healthy) . Cialis works quickly and no observed side effects. There's now a 5 mg daily dose (in monthly pkts of 28 ) . Not cheap but certainly has its benefits

I went across the border into Myanmar this week from Golden Triangle/ Chiang Rai. Immediately swamped by hawkers pushing cheap Viagra and Cialis. Very poor quality print on the boxes and I image the contents would not be much better!

Aren't Viagra, Cialis, Kumagra, etc. all the same (same active ingredient)? My big problem with Kumagra is upset stomach, and also hip (joint) / lower back pains. It works quickly, and I only take 1/4 or 1/3 of a pill, but I constantly feel like I have to burp up the liquids in my stomach.

I've gotta agree with Icon regarding avoiding the street vendors. I wouldn't buy anything from those slim ball mafiosos just like I wouldn't let the guy next to them take me to a massage parlor in his tuk tuk.

If you think buying the real thing is expensive, imagine what kidney or liver failure would cost after gobbling down a bad batch of some of those Chinese imports....

There are some mom & pop shops in that area that are probably more trustworthy to buy from. My drug of choice is the Kamagra jelly packets. But after reading above, I might give some of the Cialis a shot, as the Kamagra gives similar side effects of Viagra.

You can find better shops in some of the malls (TOPS, Carre Four, etc) that probably carry the real stuff. For me, I think it's worth the price to get something reliable.

Indian Stuff

India is a big exporter of generic pharmaceuticals to Thailand through regular, established channels such as the GPO. However, there is a big mark up by the time it reaches the customer. What is to be borne in mind, and rightly as Cupidman says, is to ensure that you do not use spurious stuff. The Indian equivalents of Viagra and other medicines sold here with Indian labels are illegal stuff. There is no guarantee that they are genuine stuff and that they have been manufactured in clean factories. Just because you buy it in a pharmacy here is no guarantee of quality. And yes, there is hell of a lot of spurious stuff in India too !

Regarding Sextile's comment about the "proof of the pudding..." it is well known that even dummy tablets work - the placebo effect !!

-- Today, 13th., forenoon I spoke with the American who prefers to buy his medications from the lady in C'Town..
- He told me that he's been buying from her for the last three years and is perfectly satisfied with what he buys.
- I enquired about any possible damage to his internal organs, (liver and/or kidneys.), and about the placebo effect? He replied that he's unaware of any internal problems and added - a bit shortly - that he's perfectly satis'd. with what he buys.

-- Query: Would a placebo effect be efficacious for as long as three yrs.?
