-- Today, 25 feb., over coffee my Elderly, WYSIWYG & American Friend - who's about as non-Techie. as I am, we're both TOFs. - shewed me his latest app. on his iPhone., iPad or whatever -
It's called GRINDR.;

-- According to the blurb that I read on search-engine Google: 'It's the largest all male location-based social networking tool for the iPhone, iPodtouch, iPad and compatible BlackBerry devices. ... .';
- From what I could see & u'stand. it shews other mens' faces, how far away they were from one's own loc'n., (using GPS.), at the time that they had OPENED their device, whether they were OPEN to talk, (Facebook, Twitter or whatever.), and possibly other things, too;

Not new at all -- it's been around for at least a couple years already.

And there are now dozens of similar apps which are more specific in taste (ie., there are apps for bears/bear lovers, fetishists, etc.).

Also note that Grindr is available on Blackberry as well as iPhone. Possibly Droid, too -- but not sure.

Most Thai boys seem to run it on their Blackberries.

Blackberry has sold over 1 million handsets in Thailand so far...there is no shortage of "haves" I guess.

In any case, the local guys on Grindr are largely middle class and above (so far). But there are lots and lots and lots of them.

BBs are not 20+, bought new one recently because old one went into washing machine and got bounced to death, it had two 'male' sites, both at least 2 years. My new BB is genuine, 12,000Baht including six months internet connection.

Korea has numerous such sites, all in korean language, static face threads plus live on camera chat functions. For years there was a western guy called malkie or similar name lived in Seoul, spoke and wrote korean script, he used to chat on camera with korean guys, and then record them stripping, jerking, cumming etc., then post the clips on a yahoo groups site.

My gay medical student friend in Shanghai showed me a similar site, all in Chinese, maybe going on for three years ago.

not all Essan boys (young men) have water buffalo probems. My nearest and dearest is from Essan and has nearly finished his doctorate.

FYI, the price of a brand new, genuine Blackberry Curve is now down to only 8,500.00 baht.

The type of guy on GRINDR in western countries seems to be a self-conscious mini celebrity.Their photos though are often witty and artistic but if I see the description DTE,NSA,GSOH I'll scream.Talk about parrots.In my experience it is akin to a people watching experience.

Have been away from CFS for a while and scrolling through it is more interesting and lively than say six months ago.

Grindr is pretty much the same here. Only rarely have I hooked up on it.

Recon is better for finding guys who are older, kinkier, and more serious about actually hooking up for sex.

More GRINDR cliches are Dates and Mates,No Hookups and there is no avoiding Straight acting.

Looking forward to meeting a straight who is gay acting.
