apart from the metro site which I find confusing, is there another site with bus numbers and routes?

-- Memory suggests that Khun Yannawa made mention of a web-site some time ago, possibly on the Cruising spots, (updated), thread?
- Otherwise, if you're in BKK., then BOOKAZINE sells copies of BANGKOK Bus Map., ISBN.: 9-789754-250451., Roadway Southern E5., 69.Bh., wch. I find to be generally helpful although not 100%. correct!
- Again, from memory, Khun Pong has recommended another 'bus. map; ISBN. no.: 9-789744-850386., 70.Bh.; SE-ED. BOOKSHOP in SILOM COMPLEX SHOPPING PLAZA.
- Both maps have their merits & their drawbacks; neither is infallible!

The English section of BMTA's official site (Bangkok Mass Transit Authority : BMTA) can be quite useful, you can also check out the Transit Bangkok site (Bangkok bus, MRT, BTS - All in one Guide).

However, I'd also recommend to get a printed bus map, as suggested by Khun Sextile.

yes, the maps are probably the best. I was wanting to go from Bic Ratburana to Sathorn and I think there is a river taxi.

- Waddyamean? I'm here! ;) During the three days of this year's Songkran Festival it's been seldom that I've seen so many attractive young men in SILOM COMPLEX SHOPPING PLAZA, some of whom had such smooth complexions that I reckoned any young lady would give anything, short of her virginity, to posses. I asked my Enthusiastic & American Friend whither they all went out of Songkran? Alas and alack, answer was there none. :(

the BMTA site is only partially useful if you happen to know the system en BKK very well-which makes it obsolete. You first have to know which garage runs a route to find the details.....
Other sites-NONE is uptotdate or really comprehensive-just try.

FRom that Big C (is that the 1 behind bangPakOK??) take bus 6-now new shiny yellow- for just 10 bt to the new BTS extension Krung Thonburi and then BTS to Satorn.
(recently the BMTA has re-introduced 7 day and monthly tickets- at 200/800 thb-validONLY in the official govmt. buses-mainly th open red (most are free anyway) and the orange AC+ a few others. Most of BKs citybuses are ''rot ruam''=private bus, these do not accept these tickets
Riverboats (I think a taxi is a hired jitney) leave from behind that BigC ONLY peakhours weekdays-limited stop express.

I also use the BMTA site when I have at least a vague idea about the buses I could use, because you can look up the routes by bus number. That's not as useless as it sounds, for example if you see buses in the street and just aren't sure about the exact route they take or if a company's website mentions which buses pass their office/hotel/spa/sauna/whatever.
