Chinatown
 

Went in search for Chinatown cinema after being disappointed with Saphan Kwai (did I mention the two VERY BIG mice at that cinema (yes, not mice I guess).
I have been to the cinema many times but not for a few years so I was surprised that someone has moved it! I came along Yawarot from Hua Lumpong, turned right at Gran China Princess hotel and at Suapa (no sign of GSM sauna) could not remember if I should go right or left (back towards Hua lumpong). I walked twice along the road but to no avail. Where have they put it. Is it in the block of former GSM? I will go again in a few days after I rcover from the heat.

oh! I remember walking past that one (near a temple) and I always use White Orchid Hotel as a basis for where I am. Should ne easier next time. I guess that there are salivating developers looking at the old cinemas with proposals for condos , hotels or offices. No doubt the numbers of cinemas will keep declining as Bangkok changes. The Southeast Asia Movie Theater Project
is quite interesting if you are at all interested in cinema history. There were certainly some enormous and grand cinemas around before multiplexes.

- In sat's., 12 may, issue of The Nation. 'paper. was an headline about residents angry and proposing a protest that a site next-door to an ancient temple would be 'developed' inappropriately into another hotel, shopping precinct or whatever.

hooray, I found the cinema. Real trip back in time. SLEAZY!!! However, after a while I kind of enjoyed the sleaze. Found some guys who spoke English and also saw the naken man who I called Superman as he seemed to have quite a few guys suck him and kept going and going. Another farang there, a big guymaybe older than me and one guy said he was Australia. A CFS member??
