info on Luang Prabang?
 

Visiting Luang Prabang soon...anyone know any gay hotspots? Any gay friendly or gay accommodations?

A few years ago I visited L.P. on a Purple Dragon trip (took a Isaan guy with me). We had a local gay guide. All bars etc close at midnight and at that time there was only one gay friendly bar which was just that. No hosts , no dancing, no hookers.

Its still a great place to visit being a world heritage site (the whole town is timber built and non smoking) with beautiful hill country, waterfalls and swimming holes, temples (of course) and Meekong long tail boat trips.

It is a delightful place to visit for a few days.
I did so earlier this year.

Some nice restaurants too in the town centre.

But there seemed to be no gay scene at all.
Enjoy the town for what it is for a couple of days.
Rent a bicycle to ride around, good fun.
If you cannot do without for a few days, take a friend with you.

Grindr, Gay Romeo, and the like might serve you best in a sleepy place like LP.

No gay scene
 

I was in Luang Prabang earlier this year and the whole place is overrated as a tourist attraction in my opinion. Also there is no 'gay scene' as such just a couple of bars that are supposed to be gay friendly but were empty, and I got food poisoning from one. There is a big disco where gays go (after midnight) but is is not exclusively gay and it is difficult to get to. Best place to stay are the B&B's in the actual town, not the ones across the rivers. Check utopia-asia or sticky rice for info although I found both guides out of date, e.g. no gay massage now.
