they merged MD DC and NOVA message boards?
Lord, why? Bad enough when we just had MD burbs of DC!
|
Because it makes sense from a geographic standpoint. Guys had to post the same message to three different boards, and largely reached the same audience. It was inconvenient to say the least...and very confusing for visitors who don't realize how small the region actually is.
What's your beef with the National Capital Region? |
If you have to ask then....
They could have had a "dc area" and a "rest of MD" and a "rest of VA". That would have been perfect. But, they didn't ask for opinions! |
I think you should dial-down the attitude. The boards were reconfigured based on geography and traffic patterns, so it would be easier for guys to be seen. It's a fluid process that shifts over time. If the traffic justifies having separate boards again, it'll be done.
FYI, there was an open call for beta testers well ahead of the changes. If you think the boards should be separated, then post your opinion over on the Suggestion board. Member input does count, but only when guys get off their duffs to offer it. Keith doesn't read minds. Just don't bash other areas simply because you may not like them: there's just as much others could go off over about Baltimore being far from Charming. |

Not that this stops me from being in DC for the festivities in January. Alas, the seat of government is in DC. |
Boys, now lets all get along (LOL..)

YMMV. |
Sorry, I didn't know they took suggestions. I don't come to this board very often. My bad!
|
I think it`s a wonderful idea they merged the boards! These three areas aren`t that far apart time or distance wise and it triples your chances to find others who share your desires or needs..Plus now all the guys from those boards can bask in my charm and loveliness :p

How freaking lame. The area is huge and I could care less what kind of cruising is going on in Virginia or DC. Now I have to sift through all that to find local ads? Lame.
|
Most guys remember to post where they are looking. It's no different from 50 guys from all around Maryland posting, but none of them happen to be convenient to where you are. It also saves most guys the effort of having to post on three different boards.
It's not a big deal, especially if you visit regularly, as well as post that you're looking. That way, guys can respond to you directly. |

I'm on board with you man! And they named it Virginia alphabetically so it is near the bottom of the list? Please the least of all the 3 as far as gay men! At first I couldn't even find maryland! I looked for dc, no list, I looked for MD, no list, I got to the bottom and I say VA DC and MD and I thought you've got to be kidding me! Therefore, my initial post. |
Ok. Now I get to sit and wait for capitaluc's bitter comment (along with the token balto bash!)
bring it! |

As I said 10 years ago, if board traffic grows sufficiently to justify separate sections again, we'll do it. Otherwise, use the board as recommended and you'll probably make out just fine. For the longest time Craigslist killed almost all of the sites like CFS. Fortunately, we held on. Now that Craigslist is out of the personals, guys are coming back. If you have suggestions, visit the Feedback forum and share it! |
oh I get the consolidation, & don't object to it. My response was more towards an hour's travel time to baltimore- but from my area - and add in the rest of the VA zone heading west & south, laughable (more like 3hrs), maybe from northern dc zones with nice traffic an hour. Far as I can see, the board traffic is (crickets chirp) around here (my local area)., both for recent postings as well as profiles that were active within the past year.
I think Craig's was about the easy hit local/quick, quick turnover. Posts quick up with many/most were for the same day. This site- well CFS Cruising for sex, not quickies for sex. :-) Its places to get information about and of course possible connections :-) (and some fun reading ;-) Its not the same nor meant to be. In some ways it reminds me of the old BBS dial up days (remember when 2400bps was fast?) |
Ahhh BBS and the lighening fast 6kbps modem... green / amber screens... 11x17 green white paper... dot matrix printers... life was so different and yet the same.
Traffic in the area definately qualshes most impulsive ('yeah sure... it'll only take me an hour to get there') best intensions gone awry quickly. Each format has its own purpose and format, and each allows for individuality up so a sort, but they also seem vulnerable more and more to misuse as well, in that it isnt just two (or twelve) people looking to have fun innocently (or not so innocently)... ...now you have to worry about over-zealous (or even more dangerous - bored) law enforcement, the deranged and malicious, socio-political idealogs, and folks with questionable motivations LOL Plus being able to carry around gizmos with near infinite platform fluidity has made it impossible for any one medium to have all the traffic and patronage as when there were fewer sites catering to a majority of clientelle demographics. This all seemed so much simpler in the '90s... |
