what about simple logic thinking? Same holds for taxis:
far fewer people in town. Far fewer taxis on roads.
BUT; also (estimate) near half of BKK's 40+ gay sauna's must have closed as sitting in water-or unreachable. So lower remaining custom has less to choose from.
The tipical farang-aimed sauna"s story wont hold-much fewer visitors-but same nr open

... .

-- Also far fewer taxis. on the rds. as so many parked on the Express-ways, on the Fly-overs and in/on other places judged to be above the flood-waters' levels.

yes-have seen them too-but the custom for them would/is not there either.
Re Chiang Mai- HOUSE OF MALE, the best known ChMai sauna, long established, just behind the parking lot of the KadSuanKaew=Central shopping centre and close to the main uni. Reportedly there is another sauna in the Club 1-7 ''resort'' also open for outsiders, but I think this is not regular.
Old-style Thai house, nicely decorated, but all open-air, so you also enjoy the cold and heat of ChMai-and the mozzies. Fairly large pool with also shady huts beside. Not too big, so even a small crowd can look it like busy. Entry was 130 bt, no freebies, except drinking water and mouth-wash from a tank-listerine type.
Farang on my visit seemed to make out 30-40% of all. Many visitors seemed to be regulars and chat with one another. Customers very mixed with a fair lot of young Thai too, many just popping in+out after a quickie. There are just 5-6 cabins, in an AC-area, not tissue, no condoms(bring yourself), and if busy, waits have to be endured. Also a very dark maze or so, too dark for me. Caution: many up+down steps anywhere-take heed or stumble. Later in the evening one may even see Thai getting close in public-not very common elsewhere.
Perhaps it was my newcomers luck, but quite soon I was nearly dragged off into a cabin.

GL sauna Haad Yai
indeed easy to find with directions of Xiandarkhorse/taoboxer etc-see Haad Yai thread for a further report.
CFS users will love it: for us attractive as farang seem very rare, rundown, dirty, filty even, but what an action- quite different from the prudishness in most Thai sauna's.
Now in Kota Bharu-Malaysia, quite another surrounding here

Arrived at Heaven Sauna at about 6.15pm Sat (19th). There were now four of us waiting for lockers. Only took a few minutes…
As I came in along the street Tn Maharak from Tn Silom I expected Heaven to be empty because the car park in the basement has a high typical flood barrier across the egress. Not the easiest place to get to using public transport.
Extremely busy, beautiful evening. All sorts on offer, a couple of farangs but mainly Thais and I suppose other near Asian cities.
Scored with just the right medicine details about which will remain undisclosed, Ha!

For those enterprising souls wanting to explore suburban BKK:
new sauna opened:
gtai net advertises for SAFE HOUSE in Sukhumvit soi 78, My map is undecided if that is beyond the Bangna main crossing or not, but the BTS should come close by now. ENtry for now just 99 bt.
Dreadedned mentions another place ROMEO in Sukhumvit soi 9-but this site fairly often has unupdated listings from 10 yrs ago or so.
The mainly Thai site mangosociety also does a good job in advertsing themed/naked/f..ing etc. nights in sauna's.

yes-kind of, not rec in rainy season-its via a half-dry/wet waterdrain. Best to see it 1st time when coming from sauna-then its obvious adn you can note where you have to go to going there.
Re Taximeter in BKK; ANY taxi not riding is not to be trusted, as they opnly stand there (by HTls, centres etc.) to prey on arranged fares-often with some middlemen for translations. Except obvious places like airprot/stations etc.

I'm intrigued by the good review of the Muffil Sauna late-night action.
Can anyone post a link to a map or at least how long it'd take to get there in a taxi/bus/MRT from Silom? Thanks!
Coming to BKK next month, FYI I see the Ibis Sathorn for US$20/night from early July to September on their 40%/50% off sale....no refunds or changes, but a good rate anyway.
