Don't get me wrong Thai Guy.
I'm not accusing the Thais of making a mistake. It seems just as sensible to call the ground floor the first floor bearing in mind it's the 'first' floor that we walk on after entering from the road. I was actually being mildly sarcastic (some would say bitchy!)in reference to josh4u's earlier comments.
