I checked out the 24 Hour Fitness in Long Beach at Ocean Gate Plaza last Sunday (New Years Day) at about 1pm. It was very slow that there was no one at the desk to check for club cards or ID. I worked out for about an hour. I do like the long locker room so you can see everyone. They have a glass-enclosed shower area (no dividers) so you can see who is showering from the sinks without making it to obvious. There was no one in the dry sauna but it seemed like it could be fun.
Due to the rain, the 710 & 405 freeways were a mess, so I took the PCH home and checked out the 24 Hour Fitness in Torrance. I like the pool and the small men's locker room next to it. It seemed like it could be fun especially late at night. The upstairs men's locker room only had showers and it seemed like they could use a little cleaning or maintenance.
Both of these are actually open 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. Even though they are called 24 Hour Fitness, some clubs are not open 24 hours a day like the 24 Hour Fitness Sport in West Hollywood on Santa Monica Boulevard (the guy at the desk said it a local ordinance). When I joined about 7 years ago, they said they were going to open round the clock "soon" but that never happened.
