I visited a new sauna of Penang , called " gWORD FITNESS " .
Actually , it is not that new .
When I visited Penang last time ( last October) this place already opened . I just didn't know .
This place is located at PRIMA TANJUNG shopping complex .
PRIMA TANJUNG is just opposite of famous ISLAND PLAZA where METRO JAYA department store is .
I always go to
PR IMA TANJUNG when I visit Penang , because my favorite cake shop is there .
Not because I go to get massage at LONG YANG gay massage parlor in the complex .
It took about 15 minutes from me to find this place .
How they number the blocks in the complex is very complicated .
The simple instructon to get there is
gWORD is in the second complex building , not the first main complex building where a hawker centre is .
Just walk up Jalan Fettes toward a Chinese temple .
The closest shopping arcade to the temple is not PRIMA TANJUNG , that's called BAZAR TANJUNG .
This place is located at the end of the second complex just above a modern computer game shop and 31 ice cream . There is a clear sign on rainbow colour plastic board on the sreet level . You woudn't miss it .
Take a lift to 3rd floor or 3A floor . They have 2 levels of cruising space .
They open from 5pm to mid night from Mon to Fri .
From 2PM to mid night on weekends .
They charge RM10 everyday . The membership fee is RM10 .
I got a nicely designed VIP memebership card .
They have Wed time special of only RM5 from 8PM to 11PM.
Sat & Sun special 2PM to 5PM .
The facilities .
1st level = reception , gym , coffee corner , locker space , toilets , shower corners ( separated by curtains ) and a STAGE !
Seemed like they had a special event called " Cow boy nite " last month .
2nd level = spacious locker corner , dark spaces ( 2nd level is VERY dark ! ) ,4 lockable private cabins , dry sauna , shower corners , toilets AND a well designed maze like large steam room .
The clientels ?
Well , I stayed about for 3 hours , because there were only about 20 customers despite the special .
Mailnly Chinese Malaysians in their 30's and 40's .
Maybe 3 of them are in their 20's . Only one of them is fit .
No farang or Indian looking customer .
I mean the clientele of LEO FITNESS is much much better .
But now it's lot more difficult to get there ( Midland shopping centre ) , because the big change of Penang's public bus routes which just became effective this month .
That frequent air-con mini bus system is NO MORE in George town area .
They are supposed to run outside of the CBD , but couldn't see any where they should run . They said they still had been changing and altering many parts of the routes .
Say , now the frequency of public bus to Midland Shoppin sentre is about 1/5 of the past .
Actually I waited for a bus near the roundabout of Gurney and Jalan Tanjung Tokon for almost one hour .
And it was full of passengers .
But on the way back to the CBD , I only waited for a bus less than 5 minutes though ( and it was air-conditoned )
Well , maybe I should stick to Leo .
