Well, a lot of ground to cover. One, the danger is overblown. Stats of homicides/population show many big american cities have higher homicide rates. Having said that, yes, there is violence. mostly its drug gang vs drug gang vs police. A few kidnappings have occurred against high profile locals and visitors. The average person crossing over is in little danger unless doing something stupid. ie, wearing expensive jewelry, stumbling drunk late, etc. Two bars within walking distance from bridge 1 (bridge 2 is not a pedestrian bridge) , Montera and Herradura have girls for hire. Just be street smart, avoid the police, etc and you be ok. There is a red light district called "boystown" or la zona that is known by all cabbies and is a standard $10 fee to get to... very safe.. Several bars there with trannies and many free lancer young ladies standing in door ways. Cost is anything from 15 dollars on up. Read some of the old posts by Mavica about cruising rules and you will hook up easily. The tip on Monterey is a good one. Can catch a very nice bus from Texas or Mexico and be there in two hours. huge city with jillions of opportunities for hook ups with either sex. Mexican men in general are very open to being discretely cruised.
