My recent experience of Marnmai Chai Kha was mixed. The receptionist was very friendly and gave me a lift to and from the place with his motorcycle. Upon arrival, the "owner", a super-queeny middle-aged guy, spoke to me loudly in front of another customer as well as three boys sitting on the floor, asking me to choose one and saying they were all good. I was quite put off by his (her) loud-mouth manerisms. I chose one boy and was brought upstairs, after which I found the place old and dingy. Because the boy looked a little "different", I asked if he were an ethnic Shan, to which he said yes, and also most in this establishment were Shan and straight. ["Shan" is "Tai-yai" in the Thai language] The boy was respectful and had good manners, gave a good message and relatively good after-services (bearing in mind he is straight). On both arrival and departure, I noticed the other customers were really old Thai grandpas.
