I use AIS 1-2-Call. I was adding more to my account each month to retain the phone number and building up a big balance since I didn't use the phone that much.
When I was in Bangkok I went to the AIS office in Central World and told the lady I was building up a large balance. She switched my service so that now whenever I add anything, even just B100 to the account, the account validity is extended for ONE FULL YEAR from the last amount deposited, and thus I don't need to worry about losing the number even if I don't add money to the phone for several months.
I can't remember the name for the service, but if you go into an AIS office they'll know what you need.
