If these proud middle-class guests are popping in for a couple of hours in the sack, their objections would seem somewhat hollow. If they're actual friends staying the night, then they should register as is required of anyone spending a night in a hotel room.
My friend has never had to leave an ID with security since he is always a registered guest. Simple really.
