No matter how noble, I am always hesitant to extend additional authority to the government to regulate our sex lives. Yes, the use of condoms in any risky, including multi-partner, sexual act is a wise means to prevent the spread of HIV and AIDS. Do I want the government to tell me that I HAVE to use a condom? No, that is a personal choice.
Some in the adult industry are prone to chalk this up to another attempt to close down production. They cite the industry's self imposed testing programs and lack of significant cases in the field. Even a lot of the cases that have occurred are the results of porn actors and actresses working in unregulated productions overseas. This new rule would not apply to them, and may (IMO) diminish the importance placed on regular and timely testing.
As long as there is a market for "No Condom" adult videos, the industry will continue to make them, or at least reissue old features from before AIDS. If we allow the government to impose condom use on all performers, it will be a simple step to ban the sale and ownership of no condom videos.
Once again, we must yell at government to:
KEEP YOUR HANDS OFF MY DICK!
