"Offing" bar boys was hit and miss for me initially. However, after about a year of doing it at various bars in Bangkok, Pattaya, Chiang Mai, and Phuket I have learned a few key things:
1. It is getting easier to identify "Tops" from "Bottoms" without relying on what the mamasans say;
2. "Tops" are choosier than "Bottoms";
3. "Tops" are more often straight than gay;
4. The younger the model, the more in-experienced they are (which is self evident anyway I suppose);
5. It is important to ask your selected model a few relevant questions to assess his suitability before "offing" him from the bar;
6. You will know if your selected model is acting if he fails to get aroused or can't maintain arousal;
7. Effective human interactions are not a one way street, even in the sex industry. If you treat someone as just a sex object, expect to be treated that way in return;
8. Over time you may identify certain bars as being right for you and the mamasans there will remember you and, in the interests of maintaining your return custom, will more likely advise you correctly;
9. Be generous.
There are always exceptions of course.
With this experience behind me I now have almost 100% success rate with models I "off".
