The news is moving too rapidly for me to add to what you can get elsewhere.
However, I want to mention specifically the following:
- Houston Pride issued a statement about the Orlando Shooting and increased security measures. From yesterday evening's news, the FBI has found no specific and credible threat.
- There was a Daesh/ISIS threat against Toronto Pride. Toronto Pride's statement is here, and also stories from the Toronto Star and Toronto Sun. Toronto Pride met with representatives of the Toronto Police Service, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, and staff from the Prime Minister's Office regarding security. It is not clear if the threat is credible. This is expected to be the largest-attended Toronto Pride event ever.
- Security is being reviewed and tightened for Pride around the country, including Denver, New Orleans, and Portland and for Chicago's Pride Fest this weekend although no known credible threats have been made toward these cities.
- Increased security will be in place for next weekend Chicago Pride Parade and [San Francisco Pride. As we all know, New York City is on a perpetual state of alert but is specifically raising security for Pride while also investigating a number of new threats made against gay bars and clubs as well as threatening notes left on cars in Hells Kitchen.
If there is a Pride event near you or you have been planning to travel to attend one, please do it without fear, but in the strength of love.
