Here's some long-winded background and explanation.
The Message Board goes back to the late 90s, I think. I started working for
Keith, the late founder and owner of CFS in 2000. The site was entrusted to me after he passed away in 2012 and is mine.
As early as 2005 or so we saw a drop-off in posts here on the Message Board. More guys started using Craigslist for hook-ups. CFS can't really compete with them, nor with the many mobile apps, except in ways that supplement our unique content.
That "unique content" is in the
Sex Listings where cruisers post reviews about the places they go. Keith and I thought it was the largest online directory of its type, although it isn't very deep outside the US. It's not a hook-up section, more a guide to where the action is. This directory of cruisy places came online in 1995 as the successor to
STEAM Magazine, a print publication Keith worked on with
Scott O'Hara in the early 90s.
For the Message Boards, the most activity is in the
Special Interest Forums & Discussion Groups where some of us mainly write
about things, like news, opinion, whatever, usually new posts in the
Southeast Asia (Mainly Thailand) section, and sometimes in
Cruising to Talk.
I haven't looked at stats for PMs and unfortunately don't have time to do that right now. I do see a number of new CFS Members register, become active, and post frequently on the Sex Listings and
Cruiser Gallery, and they show "Buddies" on their Profile page. Others register and then have their accounts deleted within a few days.
If you have email notifications set up for PMs, you might not be seeing them. I get bounce messages from some providers - especially Yahoo lately, or the other companies such as att.net that use Yahoo Mail services - rejecting CFS email. Others put it in SPAM.
I know the site needs major improvement to bring it up to date for mobile users and work better and easier for everyone. CFS has not changed its basic design and function since a few years before Keith passed away. The project is more than I can do by myself, and I'm working on getting help with it.
