So I got tossed out of the park by a ranger the other day who came down in his car and read me the riot act for being south of the fence. He said they were spying on everyone from on top the cliffs and saw me j/o...which I was only doing for about 45 seconds....at any rate...I am careful and didn't see them, so watch out! They told me if I ever was seen south of the fence again, I would get arrested....

Does anyone here know how far the Amtrak train station is in San Clemente from this cruisy beach? Is it possible to hike to the beach from the train station? What I am trying to determine is if it is reasonable to hike from the train station and save all of the driving...thanks in advance to anyone who knows....

If you were to walk from the Amtrak station in San Clemente to San Onofre State beach it is at least 12-15 miles to walk along the shore. South past Cottons point, past tressles, past Camp Pendleton beach club past North San Onofre State beach. But the hard part is when you reach south end of North San Onofre is to pas the San Onofre Nuclear Power Plant. You can walk past only at a very low tide. Otherwise you must go up the bluff and follow the old highway to the south park enterance and walk the 3 miles to the far end of the parking lot to go down the trail. It's a long walk either way.
