Wichita police net 11 arrests in adult video store sting

WICHITA - A "morals sting" operation at a west Wichita adult book and video store netted 11 arrests on a variety of sex charges, police said Friday.

The arrests took place from about 1 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Vegas Video, 8323 W. Kellogg, said Gordon Bassham, assistant to the police chief.

Those arrested, all men, ranged in age from 26 to 66.

They face charges including indecent exposure, public nudity, lewd and lascivious behavior, and sexual battery.

Undercover officers working out of the Police Department's West Bureau conducted the operation. Police targeted a section of the store where patrons pay to watch pornographic movies in individual booths.

"Periodically we do these operations in order to prevent illegal activity in the adult book stores and videos," Bassham said.

Bassham said he did not know if the operation had resulted from a complaint.

He said store management cooperated with the police.
