GOP Platform calls porn "A National Public Health Crisis"

So the new Republican Platform considers pornography "A National Public Health Crisis"

GOP Platform Identifies Pornography As A National Public Health Crisis

They have gone so far as to call it a "public menace".

The Republican party - which preaches smaller government that should not interfere with our lives - once again goes off track and is pushing an agenda of their own version or morality.

It is so funny to hear them go on and on about how the government should not be so big and involved in peoples lives - when it deals with economics or the environment - but if it has to do with sex then they want more and more new laws telling us how to live our lives.

jonn3, the story in your link was from the Platform Committee's deliberations last week. That was also when they rejected that lesbian delegates passionate appeal for "inclusion," leaving her in tears.

I'd been more curious about what was the actual Platform they adopted, since there were a number of even more extreme proposals the committee rejected.

Just now I found these, an LA Times opinion piece and the Huffington Post's brief summary plus the full Platform text to be presented to the Convention:

Forget Melania Trump. The Republican party platform is the circus we need to watch. - LA Times

Here's The Full Text Of The 2016 Republican Platform

I doubt there would be changes on the Convention floor. And of course, Trump will say and do whatever he pleases.

Porn is also a big industry with a lot of money to influence Congress. Even if Federal antii-porn measures pass, they might well be found unconstitutional based on precedent - unless the Supreme Court vacancy were filled by someone like the late Justice Scalia. Be that as it may, it's a statement of who and what the GOP really is, dominated by social conservatives.
