This is what I saved from the former Dreaded Ned directory ; all of the above three venues were still open in May 2004.
"Hua Hin Hua Hin is a popular getaway for locals and expats in Bangkok because it is only a few hours away. It is also a fairly popular international tourist destination. Regarding gay nightlife, many of the straight discos are reportedly a bit cruisy on the weekends when Bangkok gays are visiting, and there are a few gay bars that are open all year, and a few others that seem to come and go with the season! Thanks to some recent (July '99) visitors for their detailed feedback, but obviously don't expect miracles - if you really want an established/commercial gay scene then stick with Phuket and Pattaya! Doi Boy Bar On Petchkasem Rd next to Hua Hin Mall in a small soi that looks like a parking lot entrance, the soi turns to the right behind the shops. An inside bar, has some ladyboy shows and go-go, many of the friendly staff speak English. Guy's Bar Next to Doi Boy Bar, is an open-air "men's" pub with some friendly (reportedly all straight, but then aren't they all!) "off-able" staff. Red Indian Bar On Damneonkasem Rd just opposite the Sofitel Hotel entrance, inside the Hua Hin bazaar, there is a sign on the road on the left hand side as you face the beach, go down the alley and it is on the left. Is apparently a charming but small open place, sometimes has hosts, manager and staff helpful and friendly You can get other information - with guestbook for every venue listed - at this website : http://thaiboy.net/guide/default.asp...client=toaznct

Hi Boyishunk,
the information from 2004 is more or less still right. I visited Hua Hin for 5 days last November - I stayed at the Sofitel which is a really nice, traditional hotel. Gay nightlife in Hua Hin is nearly not existing - the mentioned bars have a couple of " waiters" and from time to time you will find a customer there but overall it is very quite and even a little bit primitive. I still enjoyed Hua Hin as a lovely place and if you like beach it might be very nice - I used the garden of the Sofitel for relaxation - but that is mostly what you get... For me my decision - it was ok lah once but I do not need to go there a second time. As some advisors wrote at the time when I put this question on the board - best is to have some one with you - then it is a nice vacation break !

Thanks, 40Globe. I am looking forward to the Hua Hin trip. Will be going very soon with some thai friends (maybe 3) as we have booked a 2-bedroomed apartment by the sea just outside of town. I was in Cha Am's Dusit Resort in 1996 with my ex-gf. We were then both 24 yo.
