According to Thai Rath newspaper's breaking news section, the police today raided the theatre, arrested the owner, and staff. The theatre is ordered to be closed down immediately.

A poster at Palm Plaza siad that the arrest was shown on TV too.

What for? Were they showing porn?

Is it the one next to Sauna 39?

Yes, it is. I just went through today's Thai Rath, but couldn't find anything about it.

I'm guessing it was something to do with porn. If it was people having sex in the theater, they would have been arrested (not the owner).

Looks like they were charged on three counts: 1) showing porno films; 2) allowing prostitution to take place on the premises (the report mentions krathoeys plying their wares outside the bathrooms) and 3) allowing smoking in the theater (of cigarettes, I mean!).

Maximum fine: 6,000 baht and/or 3 years imprisonment, together with closure of the business.

The article notes that that the theater had faced similar charges a number of years ago.

I went there this afternoon. No porn, true enough. But the kathoeys on duty took their job serious: they patrolled up and down all the way to the front row. A regular hooker was even trawling in the middle lane.

This one: arrive at Saphan Kwai BTS. Leave direction of Victory. Walk on the opposite site of Big C, about 30 meters. Turn in a little soi. You'll see the theatre at the end of the soi.

Since you (and all the others) say Paholyothin is closed, I take it this is a different theatre. The name is Pahol Theatre.

Yup I got it for very free :D !!! And definitely with a lot more passion than Bt 300 would buy. I guess I did someting good, she asked me for my address afterwards, wanted to do it again. But my boyfriend probably would not like that. :p

Gany, I think that is the same one I've gone to a few times this year, if it's on the right side as you exit the BTS Saphan Kwai and walk back toward Victory Monument....I wasn't sure of the name, though, and there was explicit porn on the screen when I was there....so it could easily be the one that was shut down. Glad to see it's still in operation.
Anyway, there was a ton of action, it was probably my best experience there a few weeks ago since my last visit to the London (RIP) a few years ago!

I have been there quite a few times, and it varies. Sometimes they have porn, more often they have not. Sometimes pretty good porn, but more often cheapo Japanese girls moaning while being tortured with humming instruments.

I found this place several years ago, and it is not bad at all. Of course, it is a suck cinema in-the-make: they still have a snack stall, and kids run around in the lobby. Not much room for anything, and the audience is somewhat shy to do the full Monthy.

But then, the action is pretty regular and it ain't a bad place at all.

if you walk around the cinema outside, you CANNOT miss sauna 39. The sauna is just behind the cinema on the right.

I believe the Phaholyothin may be open and active again. Can anyone confirm?

Otherwise, the Prince is still going strong. I couldn't believe my eyes there the other day when I saw two young, good-looking guys playing in the seats COMPLETELY NUDE. They'd taken off all their clothes and folded them neatly...needless to say, they were attracting a crowd (including myself).

I also read about a couple of theaters at Wongwien Yai every now and again at Palm Plaza. The Hawaii and one other one (maybe with Rama in its name?). Never been, though.

I assume the Capital is also still going, but I think they may have changed their name? I thought I saw a new name in Thai above the entrance last time I passed.

Nonthaburi Rama should still be in action, but have not been there for a while. The State, near Imperial Samrong, also has action but is hit or miss.
