According to Thai Rath newspaper's breaking news section, the police today raided the theatre, arrested the owner, and staff. The theatre is ordered to be closed down immediately.

A poster at Palm Plaza siad that the arrest was shown on TV too.

Looks like they were charged on three counts: 1) showing porno films; 2) allowing prostitution to take place on the premises (the report mentions krathoeys plying their wares outside the bathrooms) and 3) allowing smoking in the theater (of cigarettes, I mean!).

Maximum fine: 6,000 baht and/or 3 years imprisonment, together with closure of the business.

The article notes that that the theater had faced similar charges a number of years ago.

Gany, I think that is the same one I've gone to a few times this year, if it's on the right side as you exit the BTS Saphan Kwai and walk back toward Victory Monument....I wasn't sure of the name, though, and there was explicit porn on the screen when I was there....so it could easily be the one that was shut down.
