Question Joiner Fees and a few other queries

I know I saw good info here before about semi-decent hotels in BKK that don't charge jooiner fees, but can't seem to locate any of those threads, so . . .

HELP! Recommendations, please! I always book a double room and have avoided the fee when I stay at the Swiss Park, but it's all booked for my next trip. Looking for hotel in the 1500-2500 baht range either silom or sukumvit areas. Maybe the Tower Inn?

BTW, just discovered I was a member of this board and here I been just lurking up to now!

Last question . . . any one know if the two brothers still work Tawan? At one time they went by the names of so and nap, though nap was once lek . . . guess you know that story!

Thanks guys & I promise to provide a bar and host update for BKK and CNx when I return!

Stay at the Bavana Hotel on Suriwongse Road....right in front of Jupiter and the Suriwongse Hotel. Ask for a room on the 6th or 7th floor. It'll be between 1,200 and 1,400 a night...depending on how well you negotiate. There is no joiners fee and this place could care less of you take two donkeys and a goat to your room.

Tarntawan Place Hotel

Nice hotel and pleasant rooms, but all visitors must leave their IDs with the guard at the elevator. Some other places require this, too, but you should be aware of the requirement in case you plan to entertain someone (for instance, a non-money-boy) who may object or have problems with this.

I had a couple who did. One, who objected on privacy grounds, drove me to his place out on Sukhumvit instead. Another, who had only a photocopy of his ID that was rejected by the hotel, left in a taxi in a huff and left me in the lurch.

my stay in Malaysia Hotel

I had a 4 day stay in Malaysia Hotel when i was in BKK 2 weeks ago. No giant size cockroaches sharing my room ,rooms r decent for a budget hotel, clean and "spacious". What really impressed me was the "security" of the hotel. Not only they would politely request any thais ( be it money boys or not) to leave their ids with the counter but if your guest wants to leave the hotel or ask for the return of thier card, the front desk would call your room to check "if everything is ok". I dont get that with Babylon Barracks the times i stayed with them.

Tips..... Ask for a room with a tv which u can rent or plug in a dvd player. I had to wait an extra day when i wanted to rent a dvd player becoz the tv in my room doesnt not support dvd player.
