and the sauna on Suko Thai Road (in Bangkok) which many many years ago was independant and always had about 10 or 12 massage men, always great service on all measures!

I've been a Bangkok visitor for barely a decade, but I remember having a fine experience on my only Obelisk visit--surprisingly lavish and large place, and spent a long pleasant time with a nice Taiwanese visitor. Was disappointed it closed soon thereafter. Never knew why.

Also paid one visit to the Colony, which I thought a little out of the way for a fairly new tourist, and when I got there (maybe an off night) it was pretty dead. But an attractive venue, like a tropical bungalow.

Colony was just around the corner from Obelisk!

It got wild on some weekend nights, but if you didn't score they always had great massage boys -- some of whom I have remained friends with since those times.

Many years before Obelisk was in it's first location in a small dead-end soi down a little from what is now the Holiday Inn hotel on Ploenchit.

In this location it was in a very thin multi floor shophouse and I recall that the internal glass and mirror decorations must have cost quite a fortune, all based around obelisks. Impossible to park.

I used to go down that soi quite often to an off bank money exchange. Obelisk always had one staff member out in the soi to tell people that it was there. I did go in several times but there were never more than 1 or 2 customers. I can't recall just how long it was in this location but I think perhaps just a few months, then it moved.

Ah ... Obelisks - this was really the ultimate. A huge multi-story complex. I used to soak in its rooftop jacuzzi for hours under the moonlight. Sometimes it was loaded with East Asian boys. Every kind of fun there. Still can't believe it's gone.

I think I went to Obelisk in the daylight and to Colony at night. It must have made all the difference.

Any recent reports from Muffin or Muffil?

I was there last month. Same as before: tons of eye candy, but the odds are not in your favor unless you're under 30 and in good shape.

i think you can add bangkok10 for the more mature and chubby crowd.

Bangkok10 - already in state of disrepair (except that don't repair), unfriendly staff very ready to close up before 10pm!!

wow, i thought they were barely a year old.

No- though my success ratio in BKk is lower as in the provinces (admittedly only 2 towns last year) there are more-but as always success is never garanteed. BTW-not much is spoken in general in sauna's anyway-one really does not have to be fluent in Thai.

ORION-also in west-BKK, beside the Tesco/near to Central Pinklao.
Both Farose sauna's- 1 is rundown, but heaven for tops.
BUT: if you seriously much older as 30 then expect those interested also to be older as 30. Thats the play in about every sauna, i guess. Those where youngsters come in a beeline for you just for being white skinned are sparse indeed.
