Cinema Update

Just back from BKK and here's a brief report on my cinema experiences.

Capital: Definitely closed, hopefully for renovation, but probably not. Inside of theater, visible from street, is totally torn up, seats are gone, walls knocked down. Big loss.

The "Other" Chinatown Cinema (as described on Cupidman's website, on Yaorowat Road not far from Grand China Princess): Seems ready to take over where the Capital left off, but needs more people. Small theater, decent seats, good aircon, plays Thai and Western movies (no porn). All action is in the theater itself, bathrooms are outside in the open. Went for 4 days in a row and had action on all visits, including a couple of hot 3-ways in the seats, and some good one on one action. A few times had to wait for an hour or so for things to get going. No security hassles and most people are there to play around. Not a bad crowd either, with both younger and older guys to be found. An added bonus: No ladyboys.

Phalyothin: First time there and it was great. Big, crowded, lots of guys, lots of action. Good aircon. Probably the best in town in terms of size/action. Aggressive but not unbearable working ladyboys. Biggest number of younger guys of any place.

Prince: Still my all time favorite. Ruined a couple pairs of pants thanks to the springs in the lousy seats, sweated like a pig thanks to no aircon, but sucked the most and best cock of the trip. I come back to this place time after time and never leave unhappy.

It's across the street from Big C Saphan Kwai, at the Saphan Kwai BTS station.

You all might be interested to know that I finally made it to the Bangkhae Rama over the weekend. It is on Petchkasem Road, behind Bangkhae Market -- which is directly across from Petchkasem Soi 62/3.

It is a long trek out from the Silom area, and you won't see many (or any) farangs over there. (Yes, it is definitely out of the BTS comfort zone).

But there is definitely action there. I was literally having my cock sucked by a cute teenager within 30 seconds of having my ticket taken. Most of the action seems to be in the toilets, and it is quite brazen. Apart from a couple of the ugliest kratoey prostitutes I've ever seen, it seems mostly to be young, cutish Thai boys "relieving" older, working class straight Thai men.

If that's your thing, you might want to give it a try. 50 baht entrance; no porn when I was there (they were playing "Chronicles of Narnia").

Ok, now that Icon has given you an erection and offered no practical solution, this is what you do...and it is easy! Anywhere bus stop on Silom, take dark blue aircon bus 547 going west and ask for The Mall, Bangkhae...you will need to specify Bangkhae, as the bus also passes The Mall, Thaphra before Bangkhae. Once across the river and going along Phetkasem road, look out the left window and start noting the soi numbers. Aim to get off at soi 35..which is the soi just after Robinson/Carrefour/Future Park. It's worth getting off there as there are usualy a few likely lads cruising the fun park on the roof of Robinsons. Then you can walk along the road the same direction as the bus for another 1.7 kms untill you are at the cinema opposite soi 62/3. Or if you want to stay on the bus, just continue on until you get to soi 39, then get off and walk less than a km..until opposite 62/3.
It is a long way, but if you go mid afternoon, the traffic's not that bad and there are always people to look at and sit next to.

Sorry these directions are not more precise: Heading up Yaorowat Road towards the Grand China Princess, the "other" Chinatown cinema is about 4 or 5 blocks BEFORE the GCP on the LEFT hand side of the street. There is a flat theater marquee over the entrance that had nothing on it when I was last there. Outside the entrance is a stall selling Chinese lanterns. You can look in and see the small box office and the stairs beyond leading up to the theater. Hope this helps.

Icon, is the Phaholyothin cinema the one next to Sauna 39?
Anyway, that one was closed when I was there in early April, before Songkran.
Is it up and running again? Hopefully so, since I'll be in BKK this weekend. Unless I end up taking the trip out to the one you mention out in Bangkhae!

Yes.

I think so. I went to 39 on Sunday about 4 weeks ago, walked past the cinema about 9 pm and did not see any sign of it being neglected.
